Drag Me to Hell is an absolute delight! The film delivers on laughs, scares, and oozes fun!
The story revolves around Christine, well played by Alison Lohman (Matchstick Men, Where the Truth Lies), who declines a bank loan to an old, deperate, gypsy woman. It turns out you shouldn’t mess with the gypsies! Angered and humiliated the old woman places a curse on Christine. Things then take a turn for the worse.

With the over-rated Saw franchise inspiring other imagination free filmmakers to mistake bad-taste for horror, there has been a dearth of good horror films coming out of Hollywood recently. It is nice to see that we still have Raimi kicking it old school.

After a run of three Spiderman movies it looked like the mischievous Raimi had run out of steam with Spidey 3. Well, rest assured that he is still brimming with the manic creativity that helped to create Evil Dead II.
Not only does this film hail back to that early classic, it also improves on it in terms of production values, acting prowess, and pure filmmaking ability. Raimi’s direction is assured and flashy, yet, always in service of the story; he establishes a sense of unease where anything can, and does, happen. The film has a fantastic economy to the storytelling and a wildly irreverent, hilarious, tone. Even the obligatory introduction scenes are ridiculous fun.
It has been awhile since I had this much fun at the flicks. You should go and see it; hell, round up all your friends and drag them along too!
