About

I had an epiphany in a video store when I was about 16. Thinking I would treat myself, I took three videos up to the counter. The video clerk said “Do you realize it’s cheaper to rent five at a time?” I looked at him blankly and he pointed to a sign that read: “5 for $10″. I never rented one video at a time again.

I quickly worked my way through most of the cinematic output of the USA in the ’7o’s and then dived further back into the past. I found a cornucopia of insights into the human condition, visual poems of ecstasy and pain; plus shoot outs, car chases, gratuitous sex and violence, horror, and explosions. Lots of explosions!

I needed to be a part of it. I started a film blog. Boo! What the hell was I thinking? So as soon as it was started it was done; regurgitating film news was never going to get me anywhere. Off to University I went.

Two years later I have finally finished my Degree in English and Writing and I am in the process of completing two feature-length screenplays. There is still a long-way to travel but I am slowly heading in the right direction.

While I don’t miss the deadlines, I found that writing essays at University was a great way to corral my thoughts and reinforce my learning. With this in mind I am going to move away from regurgitating film news and use this site as a tool to reinforce my cinematic education.

So, lets pull up a chair, grab a box of Jaffas, and discuss the flicks. Of course discussion always works best with more than one participant. So, dear reader, if you’re out there, please feel free to share your two cents.
