I started this site at the beginning of the year to share my thoughts on film. Cinema. The flicks! To celebrate my passion for life in light and sound. Over the past month it has ground to a halt as I pontificated over the longest piece I have ever written for [...] The teaser trailer left me a little on the fence. Sure, the visuals were great but something about it did not gel. Well, the latest trailer, all three and a half minutes of it, is now online. And it is a doozy! Check it out in HD at Yahoo. As cruel as it may be, it is hard not to compare Michael Mann’s new film to his cops and robbers classic, Heat. And, surprisingly, Public Enemies holds up quite well. It lacks the lyricism and depth that makes Heat so rewatchable, but as a straightforward action-drama it works exceedingly well.

Let’s just get this out of the way. Terminator Salvation is a major disappointment. Lacking coherence, narrative drive, and imagination, it relies heavily on special effects and explosions to provide anything resembling entertainment. [...] With Tree of Life being pushed back to next year (sniff, sniff) Avatar is now numero-uno on my must-see-films-of-the-year list! Information has been pretty low to the ground, but, with the film due for release in a little over seven months, things should start to pick up.
